The aim of the Infection Control Level 2 course is to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the fundamental principles of infection control. This includes how infections can be transmitted, how to identify common infections, and how to prevent the spread of infections in various settings.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to implement effective infection control measures, including personal hygiene practices, cleaning and disinfection procedures, and use of personal protective equipment, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of themselves, colleagues, and patients/residents.

Understand the importance of hand hygiene: Participants should be able to explain why hand hygiene is crucial in preventing the transmission of microorganisms.
Recognize the modes of transmission: They should understand how germs can be spread through contact with contaminated surfaces, other people, and oneself.
Differentiate between handwashing and hand sanitizing: They should understand the appropriate uses of soap and water and alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
Demonstrate proper handwashing techniques: Participants should be able to correctly wash their hands using soap and water, following the WHO's recommended steps.
Apply hand hygiene principles in various settings: Participants should be able to apply hand hygiene principles in different environments, such as healthcare facilities, schools, and homes.
